Orchard camping is a small family run campsite ideally situated at the edge of the Pennines. Based in Penistone, South Yorkshire we are surrounded by beautiful scenery, fantastic bike routes and a range of walks. We offer camping for approximately six pitches, but can extend to accommodate more for larger parties and special occasions.
We cater for a variety of groups but especially cycling and walking parties. Road cycling and mountain biking are all catered for. We are an ideal location for accommodation when using the Trans-Pennine Trail. Just on the door-stop is the recent 'Tour-de-France' route where cyclists can race the entire length of this stage or choose specific parts depending on fitness. Local bike shops and bike hire are in close proximity.
For walkers flat gentle strolls or challenging hill climbs are all options. Maybe the challenges of Penistone Boundary walk, Barnsley Boundary walk, The Kirklees way and nearby Pennine Way are all accessible. The five reservoir challenge can be taken as a whole or broken down into manageable chunks, taking in the most fantastic scenery and wildlife. Guided walks can be arranged for groups or parties by a qualified leader.
We also work with a range of charities, disabled and voluntary groups where we arrange a variety of activities throughout your stay. We are a registered site for Scouting and Guide groups – especially those completing Duke of Edinburgh.
Arts and Crafts
Art walks, craft workshops and craft weekends are also offered, please check out the Craft page with activities planned. Birthday parties, corporate groups, hen parties and alternate stag parties are also available with a wide range of indoor and outdoor creative making themes such as wedding gifts, felt making, willow weaving and bush craft skills.
If swimming is a favourite then the indoor private pool at Willow lodge could be a possibility. The link page contains the contact details.

"The late philosopher-economist EF Schumacher, and I think it's fairly safe to assume that he had campsites uppermost in his mind when the notion came to him that small is beautiful. Certainly, the tide of evidence backing up his assertion is irresistible: whether on a farm, by the sea, behind a pub, beside a river, on a tiny island or even next to a museum, a small campsite will always triumph over a large one in the same way that a cosy boutique will ever prevail over a warehouse-like chain store. It's a matter of soul."
